Ok,

For the last couple of weeks I'd been having the strangest problem with AIOSEO Pack as follows.

It'd been working fine, but suddenly stopped working – and I couldn't activate it from the control panel.

Specifically from the Plugin Options page if I clicked ENABLE then UPDATE OPTIONS I was getting my custom 404 page.

Version of plugin: 1.6.10.2

To be honest for over a week I was completely sure it was something I'd done. So at 4am one morning I completely pulled down the site – deleted everything, re-installed WP, installed the SEO plugin as the very first thing (before even changing theme) and it was still broken.

So I got onto my ISP and asked them to have a look. They said they'd come across this before just recently. Interestingly, I also have hosting with the same company on a different server [still LAMP], where the plugin (as has always been my experience) worked flawlessly.

It seems that the newer server that the site / plugin is on now has the very latest LAMP installations – and the tech in question told me that comparing the two servers the newer one had around 10 / 11 modules which were newer than on my own server.

To check this, I have another site for another customer on the newer hosting (still in development) and tried the plugin there. Same error – can not get it enabled.

So I had my ISP move the site to the same server my own site is on (i.e. OFF the one with the latest modules TO the one with almost the latest modules) and hey presto, plugin works fine.

So, in order to possibly help find the flaw I created a phpinfo page on both servers, and done a diff on the output. As you can imagine there's quite a bit different. I thought it might be to do with the cURL implementation BUT I AM NO EXPERT HERE so apologies if I'm pointing in the wrong direction. Just to say, that in order to help pinpoint what the problem might be I can give you whatever info you want from both PHPINFO's output (if that makes sense).

- Both running PHP 5.2.9
- Working Server CURL info:
cURL support enabled
cURL Information libcurl/7.20.0 OpenSSL/0.9.7a zlib/1.2.3 libidn/0.5.6

- Broken server CURL info:
cURL support enabled
cURL Information libcurl/7.19.7 OpenSSL/0.9.8b zlib/1.2.3 libidn/0.6.5

I'm guessing that with over 4 million downloads (CONGRATS!) you're aware of this – but just wondering if there's a timeline for a fix? While the move has fixed the SEO, it's broken a few custom scripts we written that pulls car data from a number of sites we use, so for now till I fix that I'm doing that part manually every day!

Many thanks and if I can provide more info that helps I will.

Actually,

If required I *could* post [or rather email] the full phpinfo on both.

I haven't as I think it'd be a bit over the top before allowing anyone to have a look and also [again being no expert] probably a security concern.

Again, I can provide whatever info from both deemed useful.
