Hello,

Can anyone please explain the difference between the 2?

I know that add_filter add a filter function to a WordPress core function (hook),

but when should I use the apply_filter?

Thanks in advance,

Jack

The callback functions attached to filter hook $tag are invoked by calling this function. This function can be used to create a new filter hook by simply calling this function with the name of the new hook specified using the $tag parameter.

So if I understand correctly, "apply_filter" is actually a hook created within a filter function, to enable other filters to connect to?
