Many files in the all in one seo pack folder have file names that end in .mo and look like this:
all_in_one_seo_pack-bg_BG.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-bg_NO.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-da_DK.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-de_DE.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-es_ES.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-fr_FR.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-he_IL.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-hu_HU.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-it_IT.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-ja.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-nl_NL.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-pl_PL.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-pt_BR.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-ru_RU.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-tr_TR.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-uk.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-zh_CN.mo
all_in_one_seo_pack-zh_TW.mo

How do these files help my site in the U.S.? Inside each file includes numerous foreign characters at the top. Elsweher in the files in English states what country each is for (i.e. Germany, Brazil).
What consequences would there be to search engine optimization of my site if I delete these files?

needed? Somwhere I thought I read somewhere that this is a MS powerpoint file.

What is a localized installation? Do USA websites need or use them? Requiring a broswer to download a file it won't be using for slows the site. The faster a site loads the better SEO, do't you agree? Isn't that the point of it all, efficiency is important SEO?
Is /wp-content/plugins/all_in_one_seo_pack/all_in_one_seo_pack.pot necessary for my US site?

I lost my way. Let me try that again. Google reads those files, doesn't that reduce SEO for google? If so, and they're not of any use for location, why would a site owner not remove them?

I understand what you're saying but on a small site of mine, globalwarmingco2climatechange.com, google webmaster said the 7th most common keyword on the site was "all-in-one-seo-pack". So I took the "mo" files out. It took a month but now "all-in-one-seo-pack" is no longer in google's keyword list for the site. Do you think google read the names of the files without reading the files? Seems unlikely.

MO and POT files are used by WordPress to translate the WP Admin interface into another language. WordPress comes with these files and so do most plugins and themes
