Upgraded AIOSEO, Using WP 2.8.1, still not seeing Title in source

I upgraded AIOSEO over the weekend and just got the latest WP but I'm still having the same problem I (accidentally) posted in another thread:

In the page source, the title tag from AIOSEO is not appearing.  Keywords and description do appear in the pagesource, just not the title.

I go in to edit a post, and AIOSEO does show that my custom title has been stored.

It just doesn't appear in the page source.

Any ideas why it's not recognizing that one tag (on every post)?

I'm now using 1.6.3.  I've disabled all other plugins to test this.  I use "overwrite titles" and use this for the ttle syntax:

%page_title% | %blog_title% .

Title in source code ends up being

<title></title>
