After I installed SEO pack, now I have both original meta descritpion and keyword tags (home page tags for all posts) as well as additional meta description and keyword tags generatedd by the all in one SEO pack. Is this going to harm my site? Do I have to remove the original tags from the header.php?

SEO will create meta tags from categories and tags if you click those options.
If you enter them again, which I did by mistake for months, under "keywords" you will get duplicates. The program also auto creates the short post description.
