Help. I used the scan plugin to rename my database and now I can't get back in. All it wants to do is install a new copy of wordpress. Please help if you can. I have no idea where my backup is or what to do next. I have two years or more of stuff. I know, I'm a dummy.

You should have database backups to your host provider. As far as I know, every host company should automatically backup databases in certain periods of time. You have to login to your host account and downoad or restore your database.
But WARNING: If you are not sure in what should you do, please ask specific questions on forums or ask someone else that you TRUST to do the work for you.
I see your post here is from October 18, 2009 but this could help others and I would like to know what have you done yet.
