use of proxy-aware http-functions

since wp 2.8 (and the changes to the http-api) it's possible to run wordpress from behind a proxy.
wp-security-scan (and all-in-one-seo?) relies on simplepie (which is even included in the zip?) to fetch feeds and not the proxy-aware wordpress-wrappers around simplepie (cfr. wp-includes/class-feed.php).
to what extend would it be feasible to have wp-security-scan use the proxy-aware WP_SimplePie_File function?
